Hope for Hispaniola began with one man answering the call to go and serve. That step of obedience led to thousands of lives changed across nations.
The Matt Henderson Legacy Fund was established to carry forward a legacy of Christ-centered compassion by equipping local churches throughout the Dominican Republic to serve those who are hurting and most vulnerable.

Join a Hope for Hispaniola Trip
With one or two week options, our short term teams visit and serve some of the poorest areas of the Dominican Republic.
Medical Clinics
We partner with churches in the community to provide one-day clinics with US medical personnel to provide medical care to people who need it.
VBS
Wherever we settle for the day, we spend time with the children of that community and play games, sing songs, tell Bible stories, and share Jesus's love.
Construction
Our skilled craftsmen work on projects such as church buildings, the Missions Center, or repairs and additions to the Children's Center during the week.
Door-to-Door
We visit with people in the community to hear their stories, meet their needs, and share our testimonies on what Christ has done in our lives to lead them to Him.
How Do Trips Work?
We aim for our trips to be great for all ages and walks of life.
- We fly into Punta Cana International Airport and take a bus to our missions center in Higuey.
- Our missions center is equipped with all facilities for trips and serves as our base of operations.
- A weeklong trip costs $1,000, excluding airfare. The cost include room and board, all meals, and transportation.
- We encourage all trip participants to fundraise to cover trip costs, and we help you through the process.

Our Ongoing Ministries
Our ongoing ministries are carried out to bring the Gospel to people and meet needs in communities. Jesus's charge to serve the helpless, widows, orphans, and prisons continues to be our guideline.
La Higuerra School
Children from an impoverished Hatian village attend school, get food, and learn English for future career opportunities.
Food Ministry
Based on identified needs in the community, we buy groceries and make meals for those who can't get food themselves.
Camping Ministry
Camping ministry is used to bring non believers to Christ and believers to have a closer relationship with Christ.
Christmas Baskets
During the Christmas season, we hand out food baskets so families can have a holidy meal to celebrate together.
Local Church Support
As local churches work to serve their flock and share the Gospel, we work with them to meet needs and carry out ministry.

Meet the Vincik Family
The Vincik Family - Jake, Faye, and their sons Christian and Luke - moved to the Dominican Republic in 2018. They serve as our full time missionaries and oversee ministries.

Are my donations to Hope for Hispaniola tax deductible?
Yes, all donations made to Hope for Hispaniola are tax deductible. Donations are collected through PayPal and itemized according to your selections in our donation form. You will receive a tax receipt.
How do you choose projects for short term missions teams?
Hope for Hispaniola selects projects for short term teams based on the skillset of the team and the most-pressing needs in the Dominican Republic. We want to make sure your trip has the most impact and is a positive experience. Teams with many medical personel or dentists will emphasize medical work. Teams with a larger ratio of construction experts will work on our building projects.
Is Hope for Hispaniola associated with a specific denomination or church?
Though several churches routinely support our ministry and serve with us, Hope for Hispaniola is not associated with a specific denomination or church. Our mission is to spread the Gospel to those who need to hear its message.
Do I need a special skillset to go on a missions trip?
While our teams might participate in medical or construction work, you do not need to have any special experience to come on a Hope for Hispaniola trip. You just need a desire to be the hands and feet of Christ and a willingness to serve wherever you're needed.
Do I need to speak Spanish to go to the Dominican Republic?
No, you do not need to speak Spanish to go on a missions trip with us. We hire young men and women from the community to serve as translators, many of whom graduated from the La Higuerra school.
