Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need to speak Spanish to serve with Hope for Hispaniola?

No, you do not need to speak Spanish to serve with Hope for Hispaniola. Our short term teams work alongside local translators, many of whom have been educated by the school in La Higuerra.

Where do my donations go when I donate to Hope for Hispaniola?

All donations go directly to Hope for Hispaniola ministries - specifically to the people of the Dominican Republic. Depending on what fund you choose, 100% of your donation will go straight to that fund.

How do I sign up for an upcoming trip?

Most trips are organized by specific churches or groups, but everyone is welcome. Fill out an application on the Trip Resources page and indicate which trip you would like to go on, then note that you aren't officially part of this group. Our team will reach out to connect with you and get everything in order.

Can I sponsor specific people in the Dominican Republic.

No, you cannot give to specific people in the Dominican Republic. We want to love the Dominican people well, which means helping them and empowering them wholistically. We want to make sure money is allocated correctly and managed well.

Who determines which projects are done on a short term trip?

Hope for Hispaniola will determine the projects for each short term trip. This is done to ensure we're meeting the right needs and curating a postive experience for everyone.
